Modern radiator coolants do far more than simply prevent your vehicle from overheating or your coolant from freezing. They also play a critical role in protecting your radiator and cooling system from corrosion.
At Northside Hi-Performance, our experienced technicians understand how important proper coolant maintenance is to the long-term health of your vehicle.
In most cases, it’s recommended that radiator coolant be replaced every two years or 40,000 km, whichever comes first. However, several factors can affect this interval, including engine size, local climate, vehicle age, the condition of the existing coolant, and total kilometres driven.
Knowing when to replace your coolant isn’t always straightforward. While coolant that has turned a dirty brown colour is an obvious sign it needs flushing and replacement, coolant that still looks clean may no longer be providing adequate corrosion protection. Without testing its reserve alkalinity, there’s no easy way to tell if it’s still doing its job—or potentially causing damage inside your cooling system.
Maintaining high-quality coolant helps protect your radiator and engine components from corrosion, extends the lifespan of your cooling system, and can prevent costly repairs down the track.
As part of any minor, major, or log book service, Northside Hi-Performance will, at your request, carry out a FREE 65-Point Vehicle Inspection. This comprehensive check includes assessing the level and condition of your radiator coolant. You’ll receive a written report advising whether a radiator flush, coolant replacement, or any repairs are recommended to maintain your vehicle’s performance and reliability.
